Into the Unknown

First time pregnant

I don’t know about you, but the song from Frozen 2 “Into the unknown” gets stuck in my head a lot. Mostly because I have a daughter who loves the movie and sings the song over and over again, and a little because it’s just catchy.

As I listened to the words of the song, I couldn’t help but be reminded of being pregnant for the first time because that’s exactly how it felt, walking into the unknown.

So many thoughts come into your head. “Is this the right time?” “Am I ready?” “How will I know what to do?” “What happens at birth? Will it hurt?” “How do I take care of a baby?” “When do I go back to work? Do I go back to work at all?” “Will I be a good mom?”

All of a sudden, your seemingly clear path in life has been blocked by a huge fog of unknown. And now you have a choice. To stare straight into the fog and keep walking or to turn the other way and look for an easier path. And then others are paralysed by the fear that they have a hard time making any decision.

“You may be able to shrink your fear of the unknown by increasing what you know. Armed with more information, you may find it easier to make decisions,” says Rebecca Joy of Healthline.com.

That is why we are here. The unknown is scary. Period. And we are here to come beside you so you don’t walk it alone. We have information on all of your pregnancy options, adoption, abortion and parenting and can answer your questions to help clear away the fog so you can see clearer. After some of the fog has lifted, some of the fear goes away as well and you are able to make an informed decision about your pregnancy.

Now some people might be tempted to ask for others to point them in a direction by asking, “What do you think I should do?” I am sorry, I can’t tell you what you should do because I am not you. At KPCC we will not tell you what we think you should do and we will not make the decision for you. But we can give you information and help bring some clarity so you can make a decision that works best for you.
